The installation 'Ether' invites you to entertain the idea of transforming into a fantastical creature, who lives without the human condition and takes no part in man-made society. Olivia examines a fantastical form of escapism that the imaginative human mind provides as our chance to expand upon what is possible. With this abundance of agency, this creature is free to guide its soul in whatever way it likes, which alludes to fantasy as not only a reaction to reality's limitations but an empowering zeal to transform and transcend that reality.

'Ether' is a personal commentary on the path to self-actualisation within the confines of our regulated society. In this short film, the fantasies of the protagonist creep into her reality, and alongside the living embodiment of this fantastical force, she navigates a metaphysical transformation into a creature of her imagination. The crocheted yarn sculptures surrounding the screen symbolize the ever-present, all-surrounding fantasies that shape our fictional realities.
